Features and Capabilities.
eCop users create an Investigative file by entering or importing
data related
to the investigation. Users simply enter, sort and retrieve
data by:
- Events
- Source data
- Critical evidence
- Social networks
- The data can be a text, audio or video
- Restrict or allow access of others to maintain security
- Set edit or view-only capability to files
- Links to Case Management System and New York State Police
Information Network(NYSPIN)
eCop then organizes, processes, and presents the data in a format
that facilitates more rapid crime solving and crime documentation
for subsequent prosecution. The system can create a summary
view of each Investigative file at the click of the mouse. This
view includes:
- File ID
- Status
- Date opened
- File description
- Timelines
- Links to summary listings of the data
and filed reports
- Event report
- Links to evidence and suspects related to the report
- Picture of suspect and a detailed profile
- Suspect associates and Social networks
- Filed reports
eCop also has an analysis tool that identifies common occurrences.
Based on a key word search (such as “white van”), a suspect
name, or a piece of evidence, the system will identify all files
that contain that information. This enables investigators to
identify potential commonality among different investigations.
